The headline states that the military must remain apolitical.
The problem happens when the military must serve under a commander in chief that is totally incompetent as will the the case this time next year when the naive, but slick tongued Barack Obama becomes president after being elected by the American Idol generation.
To start the trouble, Obama has reiterated that he would gladly meet with the evil Cuban dictatorship without pretense as long as he got to mention something along the lines of human rights-most likely as he was getting back on the plane to the US after giving away every strategic advantage the US might have.
Then there is the talk about striking against targets in Pakistan that Obama promised simply to sound tough and get elected without any strategic thought of the consequences.
A visiting speaker at Air University who was born in Pakistan and is a Pakistani studies specialist and RAND analyst who supports Obama said this statement concerned her.
This statement was as reckless and irresponsible as stating the desire to meet with all the evil dictators in the world.
During all this, the military leadership, who are the best the US has to offer in strategic studies can't trump or even manage this incompetence. The military can only "educate." And even after that education, sometimes a campaign promise (especially during the first term) must be carried through regardless of consequences and "education." Don't ask-Don't tell.
