The left wing media's overt love affair with Barack Obama is culminating. Culmination is when
It is a natural phenomenon, the brighter the flash, the quicker it fades. The interesting thing about the Barack Obama following is that is was fueled by the "younger" generation. Yes this is the same generation that has the attention span of a gnat. By the time November rolls around, the Obamamaniacs will be more interested in the next frat party than voting for the has been political rock star.
The older generation, those of us with a job, to include the media will be watching this Obama character closely. And some of the media-even the left wing extremists media has grown tired of the Obama glow.
David Brooks writes of the Obama Comedown Syndrome in the New York Times on February 19th. He describe Obama as the media's "Chosen One." He also stings Obama with sharp attack that strike a sober chord and at the heart of the Obama campaign. More commentary...
How is a 47-year-old novice going to unify highly polarized 70-something committee chairs? What will happen if the nation's 261,000 lobbyists don't see the light, even after the laying on of hands? Does The Changemaker have the guts to take on the special interests in his own party — the trial lawyers, the teachers' unions, the AARP?
The point Brooks misses, is that Obama cares about reality about as much as he cares about the Iraqis he'll leave to the wolves as he abandons their cause. Obama is only interested in winning the presidency, not being president. Otherwise, he'd have to offer something more than, let's be friends with everyone, tax the rich and feed the poor.
This brings up something I've stated before, what is Obama going to do about Iraq, leave or stay? His position on Iraq is so nuanced that it is hard to follow, I guess it is hard for him to follow which way the wind is blowing.
One day before Brooks opined his thoughts on how the media loves throwing its panties on stage at Obama rallies. Time's Joe Klein wrote down his thought about Inspiration vs. Substance on Obama. He states that the Obama campaign is the ultimate self licking ice cream, "The Obama campaign all too often is about how wonderful the Obama campaign is."
America will grow bored of Obama, and it will be too late for Clinton to capitalize, but will it be too late for America?
